I am loving reading these stories as they come in from the different branches of our family tree.  This week I have chosen to share (with permission of course) one of several shared from the Mavin & Loa branch.  It was hard to choose just one, but rest assured, the book will have all of the stories.  This is just to get you thinking.  Please keep them coming - and if anyone has pictures that would go with the stories, please send them my way.  I kind of remember what Tyler looked like when he was six years old, but  a picture to go with this in the book, will help my kids and grandkids know what Tyler looked like at age 6.

Finding My Lost Gameboy By Tyler Mills

My earliest memory of having a prayer heard and answered occurred when I was about six years old, so this would have been around 1998 or 1999. At the time, my family (Brent & Cosette Mills crew) were living in Syracuse, Utah. One year for Christmas my Wiese grandparents gave each of us kids a Gameboy Color, which our parents were quite unhappy about until we had our first long family road trip. When we kids were so engrossed playing our Gameboys that we were mostly quiet in the car, my parents decided these new-fangled gadgets weren’t all bad after all.

Anyway, one day while we were at home, I misplaced my Gameboy. I searched in my room and all over the house and I couldn’t find it. I asked my family members if they had seen my Gameboy and nobody had. After searching for what seemed like forever, I was upset about not being able to find my Gameboy and I didn’t know what to do. Suddenly, I remembered a story from the Friend magazine about a child who had lost something, and then they prayed, and God had helped them find what was lost. When I remembered that story, I knew that was what I needed to do.

On my own, I kneeled by the side of the couch in our living room and prayed and asked God to please help me find my Gameboy. A few moments after finishing my prayer, I distinctly remember that suddenly there popped into my mind a picture of my bedroom, exactly as it looked that day, except in my mind there was also a giant yellow arrow pointing to a corner of the bedspread that was folded over on itself. I remember feeling that I was supposed to go look on my bed where the arrow was pointing. I ran to my bedroom and grabbed the corner of the bedspread and unfolded it and lo and behold there beneath the corner of the covers was my Gameboy. I knew that God had heard and answered my prayer, and there was much rejoicing. This experience is the earliest moment that I can remember knowing for certain that God is real and that he hears and answers prayers.

Hope to hear from you soon!
